We've been doing some explorations on different firing techniques for our pieces. Carren's sculptural face vessels look fantastic through the wood firing process. The way the wood ash settles on the surface of the piece and how the flames and chaotic atmosphere of the wood kiln affects the clay is truly spectacular. Control isn't everything, and here, a less rigid approach to surface treatment allows for the natural spontaneity of wood and fire to interact and affix beautifully on the pieces.
